Lifestyle Response Service (LRS)

The Lifestyle Response Service (LRS) can assist individuals who are facing challenges within their lives due to the impact of hoarding and/or squalor. Underpinned by person-centred values, the LRS formulates a tailored action plan when working with clients and through a holistic approach, assists in addressing needs and concerns relating to hoarding, as well as other psycho-social issues people may be facing. LRS is a fee-for-service program, and available to work throughout Metro Brisbane (North and South). and within other areas on application. The design of LRS is not to be time limited, allowing for a unique approach to suit all needs.

LRS will provide a psycho-social response that will support client's needs and goals, improving overall quality of life. The service will increase individual skills and knowledge to improve independence and capacity to address both the causes and symptoms of hoarding behaviours. To achieve this, LRS will coordinate and link with appropriate services and programs with the intention to support clients sustain their tenancy and increase overall functioning. The aim of LRS is to empower individuals to take control of their recovery and hoarding behaviours, as well as increase and encourage active participation within the community. 

The LRS can provide:

  • Case Management: for the purpose to provide recovery based collaborative support for clients through person centred case management and recovery orientated, empowerment and skill development groups.
  • Support Workers: who will work one-on-one with clients to directly assist with decluttering and organising
  • Peer Workers: to provide invaluable support by ofering personal learnngs and stories to increase a resident's motivation and insight. Peer support has demonstrated evidence to suggest it is a significant variable in promoting recovery 
  • Councelling: to assist clients with building insight into the cause of hoarding behaviours, and develop skills and techniques to combat the symptoms and reduce the impact hoarding has on their lives. 
  • Groups: clients will have access to the evidence-based, peer-run, treatment groups - Buried in Treasures and WRAP for clutter.
