Mental Health Week

What is Mental Health Week?

Queensland Mental Health Week was celebrated in October with a host of activities taking place across the community. Mental Health Week is our chance to reflect on mental health and take some positive steps towards highlighting the importance of mental wellbeing for all people.

This year Footprints partnered with the Mental Health Southside Collaborative to assist with the planning and success of Sanity Fair: Stronger Together. Sanity Fair is a free annual event held at Musgrave Park supporting wellness, raising awareness, and addressing stigma around mental health in the community. There were over 40 stallholders, a showcase of talented local musicians, family friendly activities and great weather.

Feedback gathered from visitors on the day was overwhelmingly positive. Many people stated that the day gave them an opportunity to feel like a part of their community, to reduce their social isolation, to have some fun and to connect with others while learning from their stories of recovery. Each year Sanity Fair grows and evolves, with next year likely to be bigger and better.
