Footprints Outdoor Vet Clinic 'Pawprints' Provides FREE Pet Health To Support Our Financially Disadvantaged

In its' third year running, the annual Paw Prints event will be held at Powerhouse Park (performance lawn).   As a collaborative event between Footprints, the RSPCA and HSC;  the Paw Prints initiative was introduced to the community to help struggling pet owners, after seeing clients sacrificing their own needs to care for their pets.

The Pawprints initiative understands the strong healing power of companion pets and of the human/animal bond which is very important in the lives of many homeless.  They find solace, protection and companionship through their pets.  They care for their pets on limited resources so they themselves have less. The event  provides services, products and care advice for pets at a one easy location, giving greater access for health care of their pets without the strains of transportation and general access to vet clinics.

Over the past two years, Pawprints has introduced to the community of pet owners an event which its' primary purpose is to help companion animals live longer.  The event is not only geared at providing free health services and products, but to bring together the community, pet lover's and their animals to enjoy a morning tea and general chat at this fund day out.

Footprints, the subsidiary of Pawprints, is passionate about caring for the community and understands, via suggested studies, playing with a pet can elevate levels of serotonin and dopamine, which calm and relax. Pet owners have lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels (indicators of heart disease) than those without pets.

Pet owners over the age of 65 make 30 percent fewer visits to their doctors than those without pets.

Going above and beyond the call of duty, but too cute to refuse; last year the staff of Footprints picked up clients and gladly shuffled their pets in their cars to ensure they received the treatments. This year, thanks to All Animals Transport, we have access to a 'Pet Express'; where shuttle runs will be transporting the animals to the park.

“It is our hope that Brisbane will embrace importance of pet ownership in improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and the community and to understand  that sometimes the quality of life can often be through a companion animal.” Says Jade Cronan-Thompson, of Footprints.

So whether your friend is fury, has wings, wags its' tail, licks its' paws or purrs,  Foot prints would love to see you and your pet come and enjoy the annual Paw Prints event held on Tuesday 17th June, 2014. 9-12noon.
